Visegrad Youth Meetings 2023

Youth from the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary participated in the VIII Silesian Meeting of the Youth of the Visegrad Group Countries. The topic of this year’s meeting was disinformation, particularly in social media. Workshops and the session in the Silesian Sejm Hall were dedicated to this topic. During the workshops in the Chain Baths in the Queen Luisa Mine, the participants were divided into groups of mixed nationalities and dealt with the following topics:

Fakenews in social media.
The participants prepared short movies about the topic of the meeting.

Fake or real – that’s the question!
The participants prepared a quiz with real and fake statements.

FakeAI.
The participants were shown how artificial intelligence can deceive people.

What did the author have in mind?
The participants prepared ambiguous photographs.

New celebrity.
The participants created a new famous character – they assigned a name, bibliography and experience

During the session, the participants presented their presentations on deception methods and cases of disinformation in their countries. The session was closed by the lecture of Oksana Odarenko from Borys Grichenko University in Kyiv.

Other elements of the meeting were the visitation of the German extermination camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Castle Muzeum in Oświęcim, the buildings of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Silesian Voivodeship Office and a collection of historic mine rescue equipment in the Coal Mining Museum in Zabrze. The participants also visited the graves of Hungarian soldiers in Katowice-Murcki.
